Faith Day

I don't think I'd have a correct understanding of faith if I weren't a Braves fan. For years I've followed with marginal success, but still faith and hope keep me coming back. Now Thursday they're having their own faith day at the park. Thankfully it's not a Jesus bobblehead night.

After the game, John Smoltz will share about his walk with Christ and they'll have Christian bands playing. It's an interesting idea and I'll be curious to see how it pans out.

It would be more interesting if the after game show was actually free (not the $10 cover charge). Our gift of salvation was free, but then again Jesus never had to deal with Ticketmaster.

Any thoughts?

Another week... another absent blogger

Gone for the week... again. I'm off to spend the next 6 days in the woods with 7 middle schoolers. Pray for me!

Superman a Methodist?

Yep, that's what I said. According to a recent article in Newsweek, Superman is a man of faith.

"Most fans believe the man from Krypton is a Methodist, an opinion divined from Clark Kent's Midwestern upbringing."

Preston Hunter a founder of Adherents.com, has analyzed dozens of comic-book characters and here's what he's come up with:

-Batman is Roman Catholic or disaffected Episcopalian
-The Thing (Fantastic Four) is Jewish
-Rogue (X-Men) is Southern Baptist

Also he's noted that "Capitan America is a churchgoer, and Spider-Man sometimes addresses God in spontaneous prayer."

I'm just left wondering about Bible Man? What denomination would he be? His bad acting and lack of production value would lead me to believe that he's not Charismatic, because they always put on a good show.

Any ideas?

The first rule of Fight Club is...

Ever seen the movie Fight Club? Ever been confused by it (I wasn't)? Well leave it to folks at the University of Chicago to give you the answers (sort of). And actually after looking over the answer I'm confused. Mainly at the ammount of time waisted on legos and by the fact that I have no idea what they're doing.

Now what was the first rule of Fight Club?

Get confused too. Check this out.

Faldie's at it again!

The Associated Press quoted Jerry Fallwell as saying during a televised sermon at the Thomas Road Baptist Church, where he serves as senior pastor, "You know, you almost got to be a homosexual to be recognized in the entertainment industry anymore."

You know he's right, because I've been watching a lot of gay movies. By gay I mean, movies with butch guys in spandex running around in a cape, flexing. Very gay.

Wow, what a revelation.
